A low-stakes exploration into different mediums of art.
Most of these are prototypes to get a feel for how different techniques work. I love bookmaking so this was a great way to explore the different kinds of books and associated techniques that are out there.
A one-page pop-up book prototype to learn how slotting paper works, the table shows the technique in use.
Drum-Leaf Books, pretty much an excuse for me to bind a book in denim. The colorful pages were large sheets of white paper, colored with acrylic, and cut down to size.
Paste papers, made by mixing a wheat paste with acrylic paint and using various tools to make marks on the page. In the left image I used a paint knife and the right image was done entirely by hand. My hands were very green by the end :)
Cyanotypes, made by covering a chemical-treated fabric with various objects and then laying it out in the sun to 'cure'. I used a picture I had taken of my Nessie ladle (a kitchen essential) sniffing a flower and then covered the edges with more foliage to give it more of a border.
