This Self-Portrait was made toward the end of the COVID pandemic when classes were in session, but masks were still required, and the most expression you saw of a person was in their eyes. So to play off of that, the expression in this piece is vacant, and it is the surrounding background that gives the most visual interest. As an added detail, I made the left eye slightly off-center to show my lazy eye, a condition that appears when I forget to wear my glasses for extended periods of time, and a simple detail to add a little more realism and personalization to the artwork.
